FAQs

What services do you provide?

Sebold Capital Management provides comprehensive wealth management services to our clients. We define wealth management as the integration of comprehensive financial planning with discretionary investment management.

What is the process?

Our process begins by gathering all your financial information into a format that we can work with. We then take you on a goal planning process to find out who you are and where you want to go. After these two steps are completed, we can then create, develop and implement the tactical financial strategies that will bring success to your endeavors.

How long does it take?

The initial steps of our wealth management process can take from 1 month to 6 months, depending on the availability of detailed financial data and where each client is in the goal planning process.

Do you work with clients out of the state?

Yes.

What is “fee-only” financial planning and why is it important to me?

Fee-only financial planning is planning that does not involve a sales commission. It is promoted and sponsored by the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA). More can be found about NAPFA at www.napfa.org. It is important to you because it minimizes some of the conflict associated with advice and the subsequent product sale if a commission-based advisor is used.

How do you work with other financial professionals?

We work very closely with other professionals to make sure that our clients' wealth management roadmap gets completed. This means working with CPAs, attorneys, insurance professionals and other advisors that have specialized expertise in implementing clients’ plans.

How do you manage my investments?

We manage all investments on a discretionary basis. The guiding principal of our investments is the jointly written Investment Policy Statement. This enables us to manage your assets based on the goals that you set forth.

Can I just give you one of my accounts to manage?

No. The cornerstone of our investment process is one of risk management. We manage all assets with a risk focus because we cannot predict the market returns. As such, we cannot understand a client’s risk exposure by only managing part of their investment portfolio. As a result of this philosophy, we manage all the assets of our clients, not just some of them.

What are “assets under management”?

Assets under management are all assets that need continual evaluation and decision making. This includes all publicly traded securities, in additional to retirement plans and some private holdings on a case by case basis.

Are your fees tax-deductible?

Yes, but subject to the 2% AGI limitation.

What does your average client look like?

Our average client is 48 years old, runs a business, and has a net worth of approximately $2,000,000.

When do you start investing my funds?

We can only begin the asset management process after we have completed a risk evaluation and have developed your Investment Policy Statement. Without an Investment Policy Statement, we have no guideline with which to manage your assets.

How do we get started?

We begin with a face to face meeting. This is a no–obligation interview. After this interview, if there is a good fit with our services and a potential client’s expectation, we can move forward in terms of a retainer agreement. After our retainer agreement is signed, we begin the wealth management process.

How often do we meet?

As a stage 1 client, we usually meet 3-4 times until we complete your Strategic Financial Plan, complete with overall recommendations. After we have completed your plan, you are put on a meeting schedule every 90 days. These meetings are to evaluate your progress on your wealth management roadmap.

How am I billed?

Wealth Management Fees are billed up front; Investment Management Fees are billed quarterly, in arrears. This means that service is provided first, and then you are billed. We automatically deduct your fees directly out of your accounts with us. This gives us the ability to track your overall investment performance on an after fee-basis.

What steps do you take to protect my privacy?

All clients and their data are strictly protected. All employees are strictly prohibited from mentioning client names outside the work environment. We do not give out our client names as referral tools. We hold the information that our clients give us in strict confidentiality. See our privacy policy for more information.

Can I have online access to my accounts that you manage?

Yes, you can have online access to your accounts by going through the client login section.

What kind of reporting do you offer?

As an investment advisor, we offer performance reports and tax reports to our clients and their accountants. Our reports are mailed 15 days after the end of each quarter. reports@seboldcapital.com
